The 816ce is Taylor’s Grand Symphony in full flight: a big-bodied cutaway with genuine depth and projection, but with the clarity and even string-to-string response Taylor built its name on. Solid Indian rosewood back and sides give a rich, complex low end with shimmering overtones, and the Sitka spruce top has had well over a decade to open up. At just 4lbs 12.5oz it is a remarkably light guitar for its size, and the ES1 system makes it plug-and-play ready for the stage.
